SaaS Support Engineer Role & Responsibilities

  • Seeking a Technical Support Professional to join the IBM Engineering Life Cycle Management SaaS product Support team.
  • Responsible for providing technical support to IBM clients, requiring a high level of skill and motivation from team members.
  • Focus on understanding, narrowing, and defining the scope of client concerns by articulating the problem and comprehending its extent.
  • Manage client expectations and assess the technical impact and pervasiveness of the issue, utilizing technical and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborate with other support operations and organizations to prioritize and diagnose problems, employing problem determination and analysis skills.
  • Work closely with Services, Development, and SRE teams to address identified product issues.
  • Communicate updates and action plans to customers or IBM representatives in accordance with response guidelines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to record and document each step of the problem-solving effort, including client interactions.
  • Share knowledge and expertise within the team and with clients, contributing to technotes, blogging in social media, and other forms of knowledge dissemination.

Required Expertise For SaaS Support Engineer

  • Possesses strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Works in a customer-facing role, following a rotational shift model and participating in on-call/production-down support rotation.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with Agile methods, tools, and process flows.
  • Has additional knowledge in databases (DBs) and networks, considered a plus.
  • Exhibits good troubleshooting skills in On-prem, SaaS, Platform, and Network environments.
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or possesses equivalent practical experience.
  • Brings a minimum of 1-2 years of industry experience to the role.

Preferred Expertise

  • Proficient troubleshooting skills in Database, with expertise in either DB2 or Oracle.
  • Possesses knowledge in the Agile development process.
  • Familiarity with Containers, such as Dockers, and expertise in Kubernetes. Additional knowledge in RedHat OpenShift/AWS is considered an added advantage.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in programming languages, including Core Java/JEE, Python, or any other programming language.
