WHS Officer Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and oversight for adherence to Amazon Safety Policies.
- Evaluate sites’ compliance with safety policies and develop corrective plans for identified deficiencies.
- Ensure timely and high-quality project delivery to Operations.
- Analyze safety metrics, review weekly and monthly incident trends, and allocate resources based on identified risks.
- Conduct frequent safety audits to identify and address non-compliance with equipment and processes.
- Audit recordkeeping practices and Global Safety Database entries for compliance with global standards and local regulations.
- Assess workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure accurate and consistent training, auditing, and scoring methods.
- Manage and mentor Safety Associates in the assigned Fulfilment Center (FC).
- Solicit input from Safety teams, Associates, and leaders for safety program improvements during on-site visits.
- Facilitate open communication on progress and resolution of suggested improvements.
- Ensure thorough training and understanding of safety responsibilities among site leadership and Associates.
- Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training programs.
WHS Officer Basic Qualification
- Minimum of 2 years of prior experience in Environment, Health & Safety, or a Master’s in Industrial Safety Engineering.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is mandatory.
- Work experience in well-established private or government organizations.
- Demonstrated capability in managing multiple direct reports.
- Flexibility regarding shift schedules is a requirement.
- Proficient in implementing lean principles and driving process improvement in operational settings.
- Track record of successfully managing multiple direct reports.
Preferred Qualification
- Preferably, possess Fulfillment Center or Manufacturing Safety expertise, dealing with a blend of exempt and non-exempt employees in a site comprising at least 200 individuals.
- A Master’s degree is desirable.
- Proven experience in a dynamic, rapidly evolving organizational setting.
- Preferred certification as a Government Certified Safety Professional.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with site leaders.
- Proficient in developing and executing department goals and strategies.
- Robust analytical skills with a proven ability to solve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt effectively to fast-paced environments characterized by evolving circumstances, shifting directions, and dynamic strategies.
