R&D Officer Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of Microbiology lab operations, including the handling of biological samples, managing critical lab instruments such as autoclaves, and overseeing the inventory of lab consumables.
- Provide technical support for key projects by conducting basic Microbiology assays and contributing to 3P lab networking.
- Collaborate with the technical team to support the development of early prototype formulations.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn and execute new in-vitro assays while adhering to Unilever safety standards.
- Foster collaboration across global Science & Technology teams and actively engage with the Design team.
Requirements
- Preferred candidates possess 1-2 years of experience in FMCG R&D (S&T and/or Design) or CRO labs, with a Post Graduate or Graduate degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields, achieving a high First class.
- Experience in Microbiology, along with basic knowledge of analytical techniques and surfactants; formulation experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated experimentation skills, ability to interpret results, and the capacity to independently manage day-to-day work.
- Proficient in capturing and systematically compiling data using tools such as ELN (electronic lab notebook), STR (Scientific reports), and PowerPoint for data presentations.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ensure compliance with internal Unilever protocols, emphasizing commitment to safety and environmental standards.
- Strong soft skills including effective communication, time management, multi-tasking, networking, collaboration within a team, eagerness to learn, a bias for action, and a passion for high performance.
