Senior Engineer Responsibilities
- Responsible for conceptualizing and evaluating engineering designs at the module/component level to enhance performance, elevate quality, and optimize costs.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to assess Design for Manufacturability & Assembly for existing and new products, ensuring seamless integration of new technologies.
- Develop interfaces between electronic and mechanical components within the system to ensure compatibility and functionality.
- Provide regular updates on task progress and potential risks to project stakeholders and management.
- Conduct tolerance stack analysis to streamline assembly processes and ensure product reliability.
- Spearhead Manufacturing feasibility studies for New Product Development (NPD) initiatives.
- Prototype new products to facilitate manufacturing processes.
- Incorporate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) and Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies into the design process.
- Manage requests for Model Shop/Lab facilities and provide support for Virtual/Physical builds as needed.
- Utilize various Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) tools like teardowns to generate innovative ideas for future projects.
- Collaborate with engineering teams across different locations worldwide to execute new product designs and production.
- Participate in Design reviews and oversee the Design release process, ensuring manufacturing requirements are met before final approval.
- Integrate best practices from internal and external sources to optimize efficiency and avoid redundant learning cycles.
Requirements
- Design and develop HMI concepts and assemblies using CREO, incorporating plastic knowledge and proficiency in GD&T.
- Prototype, test, and evaluate designs, conducting stackup tolerance analysis and contributing to tear-down teams for cost-saving innovations.
- Develop FMEAs, DVP&R, project plans, and cost analyses, ensuring effective communication of concepts and test results to the global team.
- Request and analyze concepts with the SBD team, leveraging manufacturing and process knowledge to optimize designs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Creo, along with basic engineering principles and material selection knowledge.
- Contribute to failure mode & effect analysis (FMEA) processes, utilizing basic awareness of materials and manufacturing processes.
- Engage in effective briefing sessions to communicate concept details, test results, and project progress to the global team.
