Data Analyst Description

This role resides within the Marketing Analytics team, dedicated to bolstering the ICS business team. Its core mission is to enhance and solidify connections with customers while optimising profitability for American Express through cutting-edge analytics and data science practices. The team’s primary focus lies in precisely forecasting the economic impact of initiatives targeting our ICS Customer base. Furthermore, the team is tasked with strategically allocating investments to maximise overall company profit. In addition, a key aspect of this role involves expanding the reach of their Investment optimization framework to encompass a broader spectrum of treatments, thereby contributing to the scalable growth of our analytical capabilities.

Data Analyst Responsibilities

• Accountable for refining the efficiency of customer investments within the ICS business by conducting thorough and robust economic assessments.
• Harmonise and oversee the computation of profitability metrics (iCMV) for ICS customer treatments, including Upgrades, Supplementary Cards, and Companions, in accordance with the finance framework.
• Collaborate with the Marketing and Finance teams to expand the reach of the Investment Optimization framework, extending its application to new treatments and revenue sources for the ICS Business.
• The position demands a demonstrated proficiency in steering the data strategy through statistical analysis, decision support logic, and advanced data techniques. It presents an exhilarating opportunity for an individual to embrace a highly challenging role. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in enhancing the development of data-driven actionable strategies, thereby facilitating business growth initiatives.

Data Analyst Qualification

• Possession of an advanced degree in a field related to statistics, business, economics, or decision science.
• 0-3 years of pertinent experience in the Analytics, Modeling, or Decision Science domain.

Data Analyst Required Skills 

• Demonstrated capability to take initiative, respond promptly, and make crucial decisions concerning high-profile deliverables within tight timelines. Proficient in making intricate decisions in situations characterised by ambiguity and time constraints.
• Exemplary written and oral communication skills with a track record of successfully influencing business decisions. Technical proficiency includes expertise in data mining and customer segmentation techniques using tools such as SQL, Hive, Python, etc.
