Supplier Quality Engineer Responsibilities
- Supplier development and qualification, ensuring robust documentation.
- Monitoring and tracking supplier non-conformances (NC), driving improvements using 8D and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Continuous monitoring of supplier performance and implementing measures for improvement.
- Conducting supplier process audits and ensuring effective corrective action tracking.
- Conducting Supplier Readiness Group (SRG) audits and ensuring EHS and quality compliance.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (CFT) for timely Material Review Board (MRB) disposition and resolution.
- Monitoring and controlling line disruptions caused by supplier quality issues.
- Ownership of supplier key performance indicators (KPIs) such as PPM, COF, on-time audits, and process improvement metrics.
- Driving process and product improvement initiatives at the supplier end through RCA, 8D, Lean, VSM, 5S, kaizens, and knowledge sharing.
- Leading audits at warehouses and implementing improvements in packaging and storage.
- Participating in Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) programs for aviation and non-aviation sectors.
- Providing coaching to receiving inspectors on parts inspection criteria and specifications.
- Collaborating with sourcing and materials teams to understand requirements and resolve problems.
- Handling Supplier Deviation Requests (SDR) and deviation requests for supplier discrepancies, working closely with engineering for disposition.
- Ensuring proper documentation in portals for supplier qualification and process audits.
- Validating supplier materials and substantiating changes in processes at the supplier end.
Requirements
- Proficient in machining, casting, and forging commodities with hands-on experience.
- Specialized in supplier development and control for casting, forging, and machining.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is advantageous.
- Energetic and passionate individual with a positive attitude, capable of clearly articulating business drivers and organizational objectives to teams.
- Extensive experience in monitoring supplier performance, conducting supplier audits, and tracking actions.
- Strong proficiency in Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and quality tool management.
- Skilled in new parts development, qualification, and control processes.
Thorough understanding of ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and application.
- Collaborative approach with sourcing, materials, and production teams to expedite problem-solving processes.
- Effective conflict management skills and ability to collaborate efficiently to achieve results.
