QA Engineer Role
- Designing, developing, and executing test cases based on requirements and user stories. Continuously improving and updating automated and manual test suites to align with the latest product features.
- Establishing best practices for automation. Identifying and resolving issues encountered during testing, conducting triage, root cause analysis, and providing feedback to the Development team.
- Replicating real-world product deployments and reproducing customer issues. Discovering automation opportunities within various workflows.
QA Engineer Responsibilities
- Define and prepare test data and test environments to facilitate testing. Assure that their software components are developed and rigorously tested in accordance with best practices, ensuring they are ready for seamless integration into IBM’s leading solutions that contribute to enhancing business outcomes globally.
- Proficiency in crafting and executing test scenarios that mimic production conditions. Active involvement in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, estimation, and other collaborative activities.
- Collaborate with test management tools and defect management tools. Engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle, particularly focusing on test design, execution, and debugging to ensure the successful implementation of integrated solutions within the product portfolio.
- Conduct web, API, UI, functional, regression, smoke, exploratory, and end-to-end testing within an Agile delivery framework. Demonstrate comprehension of various types and levels of testing in intricate enterprise systems.
Required Expertise For QA Engineer
- More than 5 years of pertinent industry experience. Practical expertise in creating and executing test scenarios/test cases manually.
- Proven experience in collaborating on enterprise-level web and Windows-based applications. A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in automation testing.
- Proficient in establishing, sustaining, and operating test automation frameworks. Skilled in API testing, API automation, Shell scripting, and proficiency in various automation frameworks.
- Proficient in developing test automation using Java. Well-versed in utilizing tools like Selenium, Jira, Git, and Jenkins.
- Generate automated test scenarios corresponding to manual tests, optimize, and manage a repository of historical test scripts. Proficient in all testing types, including black box, white box, regression, and integration testing.
- Capability to comprehend and meticulously document intricate technical issues. Disseminate Code Quality metrics to all stakeholders and collaborate with developers to monitor and address defects.
- Extensive experience working within global teams using Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies. Proficient in Container Tech, including Kubernetes, Docker, and Red Hat OpenShift.
- Familiarity with application servers such as WAS, Liberty, and Tomcat, along with database servers like Oracle and DB2. Profound comprehension of web applications and proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Outstanding communication abilities. Highly motivated self-starter and fast learner who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Expertise
- Desirable to possess experience in Java/C++ programming languages. Proficiency in Junit and expertise in REST API testing.
- Experience in automation or load testing. Familiarity with unit testing frameworks such as Junit/TestNG.
- Proficient in Rest API testing utilizing Jersey or Rest Assured. Hands-on experience with Selenium-based web automation. Comprehensive understanding of manual testing aspects.
